Maintaining Psychological Well-being

Hi there!
Today is April the 5th and Malaysians of all walks of life  are still complying to the movement control order (MCO). The movement limitation order commenced from March 18th and purportedly to come to end on April 14th 2020. As at point of writing, the news portal malaysiakini has reported total 3483 confirmed cases, 2511 cases in treatment, 915 cases of discharged and 57 death cases. When i read the daily statistics of April 4th, which confirmed 150 new cases and 88 patients discharged, i felt a feeling of somber draped my mood. However, a slight respite managed to balance my emotion when the report says no new death was recorded on that day.

During the MCO period, generally everyone is confined to their home and i believe that people at large eventually would get bored and restless, putting their psychology well-being at risk. I wonder how my fellow citizens are adjusting their life during this trying times?

As for me, i confessed that i felt miserable in the first few days of the restriction period but i managed to be resilient and refused to be plunged into a phenomena of swirling mental thoughts that if left unattended may bring anxiety, misery and other negative behaviors. These are all classified as mental illnesses and definitely would raise reactive outcomes in ourselves. What maters most is not being in reactive responses mode, but being in positive responses!

As follows, i shall share with you how i managed to pull out from the dreadful mental risk by tweaking my thoughts, transforming my insights to deliver personal psychological well-being. Here are the valuable points:

1. I wake up at seven, daily in the morning and i do forty minutes of stationary cycling (cardio related exercise.)
2. After breakfast, i spend about an hour watching cable news network such as CNN, Bloomberg, CNA and CNBC.  Those programmes gave me some insights on subjects close to my heart.
3. I have started a book project for some time now. So, after the TV session, i spent about two hours with my book project.
4. At 12 pm i will go out to buy lunch and have it in my home. We are not allowed to eat at restaurants as part of MCO restriction rule.
5. Then,  after lunch i continue to watch TV, in particular the HBO movies. There were some good quality movies Astro aired recently - Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and The Color of Money were some of my favorites.
6. Then, at about 6 pm , i do my cardio exercise again (stationary cycling). That will last for 40 minutes.
7. After my shower, i will have light meal for dinner.
8. Again, i spend about two hours in front of TV watching quality movies on HBO or on cable news network.
9. About 10 pm, i will spend about one hour continuing with my book project. Alternatively, if my interest changes, i will just pick a book from my book shelf and start reading it until bed time.

Well, i am coping very well with my psychological well-being. How about you?
