TEACHER'S INSURANCE COVERAGE - YGMB

Part of our life goal is to safeguard our soul and physic from any hazardous encounter that may harm and delay our initiated life plans. We do know that some mishaps may occur unexpectedly and bring injuries to our life and as a result of that mishaps, we unintentionally make the life of our dependents miserable and sorrow. In worst case scenario, if we are the sole breadwinner of our family lost of economic value could even push the sorrow deeper on the parts of our loved ones.
Accidents, illness, medical bills and hazardous event related costs can incur substantial amount of our money siphoned out from our savings fund (CSF) which is meant for 'rainy days'. To avoid depleting this Critical Savings Fund (CSF) which is meant for the future financial goals, we need to pass the risk of financing to other entities. This is where the Insurance schemes either privately run or by the government, lends a helping hand.

Recently, the Government of Malaysia, through its Ministry of Education, has set up a scheme specially tailored for all teachers, support staff and personnel falls under the preview of the ministry. The insurance scheme is provided through the Yayasan Guru Malaysia Berhad (YGMB) and underwritten by yet to disclose insurer.

This welfare fund contribution is funded from a RM 10 million allocation from the government. To enjoy this scheme, first of all you have to register as a member. As a member, you enjoy many benefits which other privately run insurance company do not provide.
Some of the benefits are:

  • New born baby consolation    -    RM 300
  • Marriage consolation              -    RM 300
  • Haj allowance                        -    RM 500
  • Compulsory retirement benefit-    RM 500
  • Misfortune expenses              -    Up to RM 1750
This scheme is going to be launched on March 1, 2012.
