Production efficiency

Is managing the manufacturing work-floor is all about meeting the ON TIME DELIVERY targets carved on the organization's mission statement? Is the ultimate purpose of operational activities of any manufacturing functions structured to only achieve customer satisfaction? Does the CEO of the manufacturing entity gets immense satisfaction if products and services delivered meets the company's intended buyer's value proposition ?
Although all of the questions above shares YES as the answer, there is one other element that to my experience is the most pertinent aspect that stands in front of that YES.
In my experience in manufacturing, if a person looked with squinted eyes, perhaps products and services has only the customers to satisfy for but in reality we need to see with both eyes widely opened and come to an understanding that the quality of how the products and services were produced is the most important value any chieftains of industries to provide utmost importance at.
Quality of production in this context refers to as follows:

  1. Minimize process non conformities.
  2. Eliminate production 'waste".
  3. Increase employees' productivity.
  4. Minimize direct and indirect cost.
So before you focus outwardly to your customers, try to look into within your work-floor activities and make it efficient to produce one unit of profitable product.
