Toxic Leaders

Many, many years ago, i was working in a manufacturing based SME status company. I reported directly to a foreigner male boss. Working life under him was not as expected. I had many sleepless nights, and not a single working day passed by without me feeling so stressful and discomfort. I am sharing with you the negative side of leadership skill that my boss possess and if you share the same condition as mine, do as i did - leave the company! Never try to console yourself that sometime , someday in near future  all will be normalized.

One day when you become a leader in an organization, learn to embrace and treat all employees equally, do not discriminate them in any ways, an finally leave racism out of the culture.

All In A day's Work!

 Hi friends!

More often that not, many leaders of businesses, especially if they are in a labor intensive businesses, irrespective if they are either first line, middle or top line managers, managing employees grievances is not an easy task. Shocking as it may sound, but it is a reality not to be passed on. There is an interesting real life story that happened to me quite long ago in a labor intensive business entity. Please read the story HERE and do let me know of your thoughts.

Organization's Role in Supporting UN's SDG.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) is a concept developed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to eradicate poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all people. Collectively, there are 17 sustainable goals mutually agreed to be focused on to meeting the objectives of the conception by 2030. The image below shows all those 17 goals.

The question is how many organizations are seriously contemplating to oblige to the UN's SDG?
Are we, the business owners, board members and executives really keen to allocate a portion of financial resources into meeting the goals? First of all, have we even thought of incorporating the goals in our existing business policies? Could the amount of finance allocated to meet this goals be transformed into
projected return? If not, why bother to inject precious money which is pooled to bring handsome return to shareholders in reasonable span of time? We know that any satisfactory investment return of green-investment takes a longer time to recover as opposed to other equity investment.
In understanding this picture, the source of many green-investment originates from the support of either state or government of concerning countries. One good example is the following short story of such narration.
The image above shows the initiative action which a local town council (Majlis Perbandaran Klang@MPK) is going to kick-off coming December 19, 2022. The MPK (a town council in Selangor, Malaysia) had formulated an objective in accordance to UNGA goal number 11, 12 and 17. The objective is aimed to drive new behaviour and understanding of the importance of recycling amongst local communities. It resonance well with goal number 11; 'Sustainable Cities and Communities', goal number 12; 'Responsible Consumption and Production', and goal number 17; 'Partnerships for the Goals'.
In the picture preceding this paragraph, there are 3 portions of images; the top , middle and bottom.
The top images which depicts the objectives of the program that is, to drive new behaviour and understanding of the importance of recycling. This programme is made possible with Nestle's partnership collaboration.
Together, they have come out with measures of 'Door-to-Door Collection and Recycling Programme' of household waste recycling. This is displayed in the middle paragraph of the image above. The measures are targeted to re-process or upcycle all collected recyclable items into secondary material or product. Those non-recyclables are targeted for co-process to waste-to-energy conversions into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF); which is a type of fuel used in substitute of fossil fuel in coal and natural gas power plants.
Nevertheless, such measures have not been tied to any figures or quantification that could be used as a milestone of achievement. An example of quantified figure may look like,  to achieve 5% or 6% target of RDF conversion rate. It is essential to tie the numbers.
The bottom paragraph of the image above shows the target's initiatives. The initiatives are further stripped down in image shown below. Detail instructions pertaining the initiatives is very comprehensive.

At least, the local town council had already began to commit to UNGA's goals, how about the local SME?

Change

Organizational change is a concept and it is deteriorating!

The working environment at present had evolved dramatically since the industrial revolution era; to a more dynamic, thus organizations throughout the globe inevitably, if they want to stay profitable and relevant, should not close eyes and ignore the very fact that our current knowledge 'bank' we all keep within ourself may one day get obsolete and extincted! Robust change has to take place NOW! We can no longer pamper our cognitive mind to accept current status quo and be complacent to what we know about organizational demand in this 21st century. With that, i want you to lean back, breath the clean air around you and click the link below to view a video clip in which someone from the past came to address CHANGE! Cheers!

My Perspective on How to Distinguish a Gem in Leaders.

A manager's triumph is defined as someone who successfully meet pre-promised product-delivery outcome, no matter how and what it takes.

Only the best among them goes on to find effective cascaded initiatives that forms the backbone of the policy targets.

Good Morning! Wish all of you a pleasant and prosperous new day!

Hi!

I have been on hiatus for quite some time now. People say that life is full of ups and downs, and they can never be more right, ever! I have been exposed to a fair, what i shall call ' life-bumps' in my days of yester- livings. I guess that i cannot complaint so much because, as if it was written on the wall, humans are inevitably succumbed to such exposure, whether we wish or not!

I have considered to resume writing and this is my first posting, or rather a first re-introduction after been missing for a long, long time. No, i was not being sent to a far far away of no-man's land. Just that i was focusing on my day's priorities which requires urgent attendance. Okay! Let me bury that away!

I have started on my book project and i plan to get it printed and distributed for sale sometime in the middle of next year - 2022. I promise to share or hint something about this book project in short time. You will hear from me not long from now, i assure you that!

So, until then, i wish all of you a good day! Do go out under the sun and breathe in some good air while not forgetting to thank the nature that nurtures us. Be mindful and take care!

Yours,

Vijaya Devan Nair
